The Next Groningen Ukulele Society Meeting – 17 may at o’ceallaighs Irish Pub

Sun + sun + sun = fun. Come and celebrate the sun and the GUS 4th birthday upstairs at o’ceallaighs, Ukuleles will be played – songs will be sung – fun will be had or ‘ave a banana… It’s free, it’s fun it’s open for EVERYONE!! see ya there (unless you’re square….)

De volgende meeting is in de bovenruimte van O’ceallaigh Irish Pub, Gedempte Kattendiep 13, Groningen op dinsdag avond, 17 mei 2016  van 19;00 tot 21:30 uur.

Iedereen is van harte welkom om mee te komen spelen en zingen in deze gezellige pub.

Neem een Uke en je goeie humeur mee als wij populaire liedjes proberen te spelen in een laagdrempelige en

ontspannen sfeer. Tevens liggen er hier ukuleles voor de mensen die er nog geen in bezit hebben.

Songbooks zijn te vinden op de GUS Songbook pagina.

De G.U.S. is bedoeld om beginners en gevorderden te laten genieten (met een beetje begeleiding) van het eenvoudig en geweldig instrument

The next GUS meeting is in the upstairs room (lounge) of o’ceallaigh Irish Pub, Kattendiep 13, Groningen on tuesday the 17th of may 2016. The session starts at 7 0” clock and finishes (officially) at half past nine.

Everyone is welcome to come along and join in with the ukulele fun and madness in the wonderful and cozy environmentof a traditional Irish bar.

It’s free, it’s easy. It’s  for beginners and worldclass players, there are spare ukuleles and songbooks, so come on down to the best ukulele club around.

The Groningen Ukulele Society on the world famous ‘Rockpalast’ – who says ukulele isn’t rock n roll

The world famous  German Rock program -‘ Rockpalast’ (WDR) popped into our local the other day and shot a little video featuring the GUS. Who says that ukulele isn’t Rock n Roll.

The Groningen Ukulele Society Xmas Party 2015

Again, this Xmas, the GUS where on the loose with our 4th annual Xmas party and singalong..

Due to an ever expanding club and uke-frend group we changed location to the slightly bigger (but not big enough) Rock n Roll Bar – the Crowbar…

The GUS where joined by the Bremen Ukulele Club (Bremer Ukulelenorchester) and Ukulele Club Wolderwijd (formerly the Hardewijkse Ukulele Club).

There where also Punk Rockers in the  building !!!   Therefore, the GUS felt obliged (obliged?? we loved it!!) to do out ‘Rock n Roll set.

Followed by Wolderwijd and then Bremen on the stage…   Wonderbaar…

Fun, fun and more fun for everybody involved…  Even the punks stayed in the building!!

The 12de Huis Christmas Concert 2015

The 12de Huis is an organisation in Groningen that cares for and supports homeless people and people with addictions. It offers a warm and safe daytime retreat with activities, advice, help, warm food and shelter.

The Groningen Ukulele Society where invited for a second year to bring some christmas cheer and entertainment to the cients of the 12de huis in the form of a concert during their Christmas celebrations….

A taste of the GUS Xmas Party

It’s that time again, Xmas time, time for fun, time for cheer, time for friends and family and of course, time for UKULELE!!

So come on down to The Groningen Ukulele Society Xmas Party at the legendary CROWBAR, pluimerstraat 35 in Groningen The enterance to the CROWBAR is on the Nieuweweg, Groningen and join in with the ukulele Xmas madness.

With performances from the GUS and friends from Bremen and the Wolderwijd Ukulele Club, Open podium, Xmas Singalong, food, drink and Xmas fun..

Entry is FREE and the bar is open from 16:00.   The Party begins ‘proper’ at 19:00.
