The 6th edition of the great big ukulele Xmas singalong

It’s all happening in Groningen – well – Ukulele Xmas anyway!!

The 6th edition of that wonderful thing that is the  Big Ukulele Xmas Singalong this year will be held at the Lola in Groningen on the 16th of december with the doors opening at 4 o’clock.

We’ve got a lot of fun to fit in so we’re starting the party early

This year there will be a buffet, Ukulele Lucky Dip Singalong, an opening set by that big bad – Groningen Ukulele Society, ukulele open stage, guests acts The Coconut Knackers, Brasso, D’Clogs and of course, good ole’ ukulele fun for everyone.

The buffet starts at 5 o’clock and the night begins with the Groningen Ukulele Society opening  concert starting at 6 o’clock

Don’t forget the Big Ukulele Xmas singalong session led by D’Clog and friends !!!!

The 5th Big Ukulele Xmas Singalong 2017

Well, what a whopper. It’s been and it’s gone, another piece of ukulele hustory here in Groningen, The Netherlands, way up north near the German border!

The 5th edition of the Great Big Xmas Ukulele Singalong (2017).

This year we filled the beautiful Club Lola (Groningen)  with our ukulele friends and sister club from Bremen, (the 1. Bremer Ukulelenorchester) and the ‘Coconut Knackers’ (our friends Dr. Dick and Ton) from Harderwijk (nl) and lots of other folks,,,   And of course the Groningen Ukulele Society.

Opened with a performance from the GUS, followed by performances by ‘Bremen’ the Coconut Knackers, UkeX, Anneloes Jager, Achem (dl), Bremen’2, Myrthe (nl) Anneloes and Simone and maybe more,(a bit vague – well – it was a party!).

Of course, the tradition continued with a 10 o’clock ‘Xmas Singalong Session’led by D’Clog & Friends.

Fun was had, ukes where played, songs where sung, alchohol was drunk, food was eaten, revelry and ukulele where the order of the day – in a jolly Xmas way..

A great success.  We think we’ll be doing it again.

The 5th Big Ukulele Xmas Singalong – 17 december

 

5de Xmas festIt’s Xmas again, The heating is on, the snow is (maybe) falling, the days are short, the nights are long, this can only mean one thing!!!

It’s time for the  5th edition of the   ‘ Great Big Ukulele Xmas Singalong  ‘ the longest running ‘dutch’  ukulele event in the NL !!

As always, hosted by those cheerful folk from the Groningen Ukulele Society, this year in the Lola, the prettiest venue in Groningen – (Pelsterdwarsstraat 11, 9711 KP Groningen).

An evening of ukulele fun, entertainment and madness with performances, ukulele open podium, special guests, food, drink, and don’t forget the

Ukulele Xmas Singalong with D’Clog n’ friends !!

Our sisterclub from Bremen will be there to entertain and keep the party going, the polder folk will be there keeping up the fun.   Will You ???? 

It’s FREE !!             It’s on saturday the 17th of december !!         It’s at a new venue – the Lola !!       It’s gunna be ukulele madness !!

Groningen Ukulele Society play Rumbling Earth Festival

On a sunny saturday in june if you wandered down the high street in Groningen, weaving through the throng, you might have heard a chirpy melody bouncing of the walls of the local shops…   Is that a bird ? is that a bee ?   no no no, that’s the sound of ukuleles !!   You would be forgiven over here in the Netherlands for not recognising that bouncy little sound,  there arn’t many ukuleles to be found…  But here in Grunn,  The ukulele recognition movement has begun..   with that funky little club, the Groningen Ukulele Society,  playing here and there, giving the ukulele some air!!

This time we where elbowing our way into the Rumbling Earth Festival (not really – we where invited)  – a new event in Groningen to promote the idea of a  ‘ free musical city ‘ where performers are not required to buy a licence to play on the streets – ( a strange but normal thing here in the netherlands).

We where there, we where heard, people smiled, people danced, Job Done !!!!

It’s that time again, Xmas time, time for fun, time for cheer, time for friends and family and of course, time for UKULELE!!

So come on down to The Groningen Ukulele Society Xmas Party at the legendary CROWBAR, pluimerstraat 35 in Groningen The enterance to the CROWBAR is on the Nieuweweg, Groningen and join in with the ukulele Xmas madness.

With performances from the GUS and friends from Bremen and the Wolderwijd Ukulele Club, Open podium, Xmas Singalong, food, drink and Xmas fun..

Entry is FREE and the bar is open from 16:00.   The Party begins ‘proper’ at 19:00.

Ukulele picnic in Groningen – 5 july at the Noorderplantsoen

Hey people,   it’s warm and sunny and how beter to celebrate than with a Ukulele Picnic here in the heart of Groningen…

The G.U.S. and friends are having a ukulele picnic near the bandstand in the Noorderplantsoen in Groningen – bandstand Noorderplantsoen

Everyone is invited to come along and have some fun, bring a uke, bring something for the picnic, bring a friend, or just bring y’self and a smile..

There will be a couple of spare ukes and some music sheets/books. though folk can bring there own stuff ( with enough for others to join in the fun).

It begins at 14:00 and ends when everyone has left..   It’s sun – it’s fun – it’s ukulele’n..

Tweede UkeClub.nl Forum Hotspot op zondag 3 nov 2013

Calling all Ukes.  Next weekend, sunday november the 3rd, is the 2nd UkeClub.nl Hotspot.

Come down (or up) to Ermelo packin a uke and join in with the wierd and wonderfull world that is the dutch ukulele community.
